Carl Roobottom
Consultant Radiologist

Carl Roobottom is a Consultant Cardiovascular Radiologist, Senior Lecturer Peninsula Medical School & Senior Lecturer Bristol University. Since taking over the training scheme in 1997, Carl has transformed it from a part of the Bristol scheme with 8 trainees into the Peninsula Training Scheme - involving four hospitals with in excess of 30 trainees. The scheme has managed to maintain a friendly atmosphere in which SpRs are intimately involved in the decision making and running of the scheme. At the same time it has piloted the educational portfolio and consistently been in the top quartile in terms of exam results and TAC scores. The peninsula now has a purpose built Academy with unparalleled facilities and looks forward to the challenges of delivering the integrated training initiative. In addition, Carl has produced nearly 100 peer reviewed publications, become a national expert on cardiac CT, has been involved in improving incident reporting in radiology and is a previous Council Member of the BSIR. At present, he sits on the Council of the BSCR and is a sub editor for Clinical Radiology.
