Hannah Whitney Clinical Psychologist |
|
After qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Southampton in 2011, Hannah immediately sought a career within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Within her first role, she undertook the postgraduate diploma in evidence-based psychological treatment for children and young people (the CBT pathway of the CYP IAPT project) and graduated from this with a merit earlier this year.
Within her current role, Hannah spends half of her time working within a rural Wiltshire CAMHS team and the other half of her time is seconded to the University of Reading as clinical course tutor on the CYP IAPT course.
Within CAMHS, her work involves psychological assessment and delivery of evidence-based interventions with children and young people experiencing a range of complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. She is the clinical psychologist for the specialist eating disorder clinic and lead clinician for audit within this role. A significant part of the work, as for any clinician within CAMHS, is the liaison with and consultation to multi-agency professionals; an aspect of the work that Hannah thoroughly enjoys.
Hannah’s work as clinical course tutor for the CBT pathway of the CYP IAPT course involves researching, writing and delivering the majority of the CBT lectures for the twenty six CAMHS professionals on the course, providing high-quality, all-day supervision and clinical skills sessions to a smaller group of trainees, providing academic and progress reviews and the assessment of trainees’ work (including video-taped client sessions).
Hannah has a commitment to disseminating evidence-based psychological treatments for children and young people as demonstrated by her further training and training of others; more recently she has also turned towards clinical research opportunities within this area. |
