Richard trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Cambridge and Norwich, winning the RCOG Gold Medal in 1998. He was awarded a PhD in Fetal Stress by Imperial College London whilst conducting a 3 year research programme at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital with Professor Nick Fisk. Richard completed a 2 year subspecialty training programme in Fetal & Maternal Medicine in Bristol with Professor Peter Soothill before being appointed in Norwich. Richard leads a team of 4 fetal medicine consultants offering a tertiary service in Norwich. He is a committed teacher and is involved in teaching Medical Students, Junior Doctors, Midwives, and General Practitioners.

Richard is married to a local GP and has a young family. He enjoys running half-marathons and long-distance cycling which he competes in seriously. He also enjoys sailing on the Norfolk Broads which he competes in rather less seriously.
