Abel Wakai is currently a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in the Hermitage Medical Clinic, Dublin, Ireland. In September/October 2010, he will commence working as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in the Midland Regional Hospitals(Tullamore/Mullingar), Ireland.
He graduated from University College Cork (UCC), Ireland, in 1994, and completed his specialist training in Emergency Medicine in Dublin in 2007. In 2008, he successfully completed a one year fellowship in Clinical Emergency Medicine and Pre-hospital Medicine in Toronto, Canada.
He became a Fellow of the College of Emergency Medicine in 2007.
His main special interests are medical education and evidence-based emergency medicine.
He is the Course Director of the biannual Emergency Medicine Revision (EMR) Course held in Dublin. He is lead author of several Cochrane reviews relevant to emergency medicine. He is a member of the Clinical Effectiveness Committee (CEC), and the CEC Best Practice subcommittee, of the UK College of Emergency Medicine. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Emergency Medicine. |
