Consultant Paediatric Dermatologist/ Consultant Dermatopathologist

Saleem works as a Consultant Paediatric Dermatologist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and also as a Consultant Dermatopathologist reporting skin histology at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire/Warwick Hospital, where he also supports a Specialist Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He trained at Birmingham Medical School, graduating in 1998, and initially took posts in Paediatrics and Neonatology, leading to Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. He subsequently completed Specialist Training in Dermatology in the West Midlands in 2007, including dedicated training in Paediatric Dermatology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He developed Dermatopathology as a sub-specialist interest towards the end of his Dermatology training and passed the Royal College of Pathologists Diploma in Dermatopathology under supervision of Dr Richard Carr.

Saleem is current Secretary of the British Society for Dermatopathology, a member of the Royal College of Pathologists/British Association of Dermatologists Dermatopathology Sub-Committee, and Co-Chairman of the West Midlands Dermatopathology Society.

He is married to a fellow dermatologist, and has a baby daughter. In his free time he enjoys playing sports, practising yoga and travelling.
