Helen Atherton

Helen Atherton, MSc, MPH, PhD, is a NIHR National School of Primary Care Post-Doctoral researcher in the Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. Helen’s professional interests are in e-Health and the influence of evidence on the delivery of primary care. She also takes an interest in health policy and how this affects health services delivery. Helen was originally a biologist and has a BSc in Ecology and a MSc in Biological Anthropology, both from the University of Durham. After moving into health services research she obtained a Masters in Public Health at Imperial College and most recently a PhD which explored the potential of email as a method of consultation in general practice. Helen previously taught evidence based medicine and statistical software programmes and has been a facilitator for problem based learning sessions within London medical schools.
