Advanced Clinical Practitioner Paediatric ENT

Christine trained in Manchester, gaining her nursing diploma in 1999, and has continued to work with Manchester at RMCH for 21 years.

She has always worked within surgery and developed an interest in Ent and tracheostomy patients from early in her career. She commenced training days for hospital staff and competency booklets to facilitate the transition to the new hospital in 2009. In 2014 she became the first tracheostomy specialist practitioner within the trust having the responsibility to maintain/improve the safety of tracheostomy patients, firstly rolling out training on the NTSP emergency algorithm.  In 2019 she completed MSC advanced practice to uptake her current role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner for paediatric ENT.

She has developed training programmes for all grades of staff, designed care plans and checklists for tracheostomy patients and is responsible for the tracheostomy guidelines and protocols for use within the trust. She is a member of the Paediatric Working Group of the National Tracheostomy Safety Project (NTSP) and was involved in creating the Algorithm for emergency management of paediatric tracheostomies and in creating paediatric tracheostomy training videos.

She is involved with providing the training on ALSG train the trainer course for the emergency algorithm.
