Lesley Colvin is a Consultant/Reader in Pain Medicine in the University Dept. of Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1994, then completed a PhD thesis on the spinal mechanisms of neuropathic pain at the University of Edinburgh in 1997. She is on the Professional Standards Committee of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. She is Regional Advisor in Pain Medicine for the South East Scotland School of Anaesthesia and is a member of the Scottish Executive Steering Group in Chronic Pain and the Research sub-group. She is currently chairing the development of a new SIGN Guideline for Chronic Pain. She is on the Scottish Standing Committee of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and is an Editor for the British Journal of Anaesthesia.
Lesley has a particular interest in translational research in pain and has several collaborations with the aim of rapidly translating exciting basic science findings into clinical developments. Her current research interests include cancer pain, acute and chronic neuropathic pain, phantom limb pain, opioids in chronic pain, pain and drug dependency and pain assessment.
