Brendan has a particular interest in medical education and has developed resources, courses and databases to support trainees and colleagues from a variety of medical backgrounds.

His involvement in research into airway problems in critical care led to the initiation and development of the National Tracheostomy Safety Project (NTSP), a charity with multidisciplinary representation and strong patient involvement, tasked with improving the quality and safety of tracheostomy care.

The NTSP has secured significant grant funding to explore the impact of education and quality improvement programs in the NHS.
