Stephen Evans

He is formerly Head of Medical Physics at Northampton General Hospital and is a certified Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) and an RPA assessor for RPA2000.

Stephen was IPEM Director of Science Board and Past Chair of IPEM’s Radiation Protection Special Interest Group and is currently a corresponding member.

He is the Past Chair of the European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics (EFOMP) Projects Committee and has been involved in a number of European Commission (EC) funded projects including the training requirements for Medical Physics Experts and a training course for Radiation Protection Experts in the Medical Sector. At the time of writing, Stephen is the Scientific Coordinator for an EC project to determine how European Union Member States will transpose the new Basic Safety Series (BSS) EURATOM Directive for ionising radiations into their national legislation (for the UK this will lead to the replacement of IR(ME)R in February 2018) .

He has published text books and papers on radiological protection and scientific papers on x-ray imaging.
